BEACHES
Pipa's beaches are extraordinarily beautiful. PIPA VILLAGE

Since then Pipa has not stopped growing and today it receives tourists from all around the globe. It has become a permanent highlight in the main tourism guides and it is always chosen as one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil and in the world.
During the colonization of Brazil, the region was very disputed by European nations, especially by the French, Dutch and Portuguese. Originally inhabited by the Potiguaras Indians, the region was explored for its natural resources, mainly for Pau Brasil - a native tree used for fabric dyeing.
Praia da Pipa officially belongs to Tibau do Sul county. The discussion about the origins of its name is old, yet the predominant idea is that Pipa is a reference to "Pedra do Moleque" (a huge rock that lies on Praia do Amor) which contours look like a big wine barrel, might used for navigation reference.
